A Dog’s Utopia: Everything You Need to Know About Bringing Your Dog to Telluride

Here at Latitude 38, we love our pups and understand how hard it can be to leave them behind when traveling. Luckily, Telluride is arguably one of the most dog-friendly destinations and we have a plethora of vacation properties where dogs are welcome. If you plan on bringing you furry friend, there are tons of activities for you to do while visiting Telluride.

  • Walk the River Trail: A favorite among both locals and visitors, the River Trail offers a low-key 3 mile walk along the San Miguel river. For labradors and any other breed that loves to swim, the River Trail is the ideal spot for your pooch to take a dip in the crystal clear mountain waters. Doggie pick-up stations are dotted throughout the trail and it’s imperative that you always pick up after your pup.
  • Hop on The Gondola: There are specific pet-friendly cabins on the Gondola between the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village. Just look for the sticker with the picture of a dog. Take advantage of this unique, free mode of transportation during your stay! Note: the Galloping Goose bus system also welcomes dogs!
  • Enjoy an Alfresco Lunch with your Pooch: Many dining establishments around town welcome your dog on the patio. Smuggler’s Brewpub and Oak are two of our favorite spots where dogs are completely welcome to join you while you enjoy a meal on the patio. Just be sure to keep your pup leashed while you eat.
  • Hike Bear Creek or Jud Wiebe: If you need to really wear out your active dog while soaking in amazing views, both of these trails are perfect. Bear Creek is 1.5 miles and starts at the end of South Pine Street. Jud Wiebe is a 3.6 mile loops and offers a bit more challenging terrain.

We offer a variety of pet-friendly properties and would be happy to help arrange a fabulous Telluride vacation for you and your dog. Here are a few of our great vacation rentals where your dog is more than welcome. For a full selection, give us a call at 970-728-8838!

Locals List: Favorite Brunch Dish

Kevin: The brunch menu at there… is diverse and delicious. I especially dig the pork belly. It’s more of a tapas menu, so order a few different plates and share them among your group.

Lisa: My favorite brunch is a Cliff Bar on the chair lift Sunday morning. After working in an office all week I don’t want to miss a weekend day of skiing. The blueberry crisp is yummy!

Levi: I always go for the trout salad at the New Sheridan Chop House. The spinach salad is served with pistachio encrusted trout, warm bacon vinaigrette and topped with a poached egg. Order a Bloody Mary to wash it all down–perfection!

Lucas: Chicken fried chicken from Floradora is my personal favorite. I dig the crunchy breaded chicken contrasted by the soft biscuits and warm sausage gravy.

Andy: The Jojola omelette from Floradora is spicy and delicious. The omelette comes with bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, chunks of Brie cheese and fresh guacamole.

Allison: I prefer a simple Flatliner from the New Sheridan Chop House – no better way to start my day! If you’ve never had the chance to try a Flatliner, it’s an indulgent, creamy espresso martini.

Chop House

Meaghan: I love the brunch at the Sheridan Chop House. The eggs benedict are to die for and they sometimes have a crab benedict as a special! Yum. Paired with a mimosa is the way to go. On a warm summer or winter day, sit outside and people watch while you soak in some rays. Everybody needs their Vitamin D and C!

Emily: Oak is where it’s at! Order  the bacon lettuce tomato wrap and ask them to add salmon….you MUST add the salmon!

Madison: The Butcher and the Baker is my favorite brunch spot–the Bloody Marys are phenomenal and I love their breakfast sandwiches. They’re always whipping up delectable specials too. Sitting outside is an added perk since my dogs can join me!
