Kevin: The brunch menu at there… is diverse and delicious. I especially dig the pork belly. It’s more of a tapas menu, so order a few different plates and share them among your group.
Lisa: My favorite brunch is a Cliff Bar on the chair lift Sunday morning. After working in an office all week I don’t want to miss a weekend day of skiing. The blueberry crisp is yummy!
Levi: I always go for the trout salad at the New Sheridan Chop House. The spinach salad is served with pistachio encrusted trout, warm bacon vinaigrette and topped with a poached egg. Order a Bloody Mary to wash it all down–perfection!
Lucas: Chicken fried chicken from Floradora is my personal favorite. I dig the crunchy breaded chicken contrasted by the soft biscuits and warm sausage gravy.
Andy: The Jojola omelette from Floradora is spicy and delicious. The omelette comes with bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, chunks of Brie cheese and fresh guacamole.
Allison: I prefer a simple Flatliner from the New Sheridan Chop House – no better way to start my day! If you’ve never had the chance to try a Flatliner, it’s an indulgent, creamy espresso martini.
Meaghan: I love the brunch at the Sheridan Chop House. The eggs benedict are to die for and they sometimes have a crab benedict as a special! Yum. Paired with a mimosa is the way to go. On a warm summer or winter day, sit outside and people watch while you soak in some rays. Everybody needs their Vitamin D and C!
Emily: Oak is where it’s at! Order the bacon lettuce tomato wrap and ask them to add salmon….you MUST add the salmon!
Madison: The Butcher and the Baker is my favorite brunch spot–the Bloody Marys are phenomenal and I love their breakfast sandwiches. They’re always whipping up delectable specials too. Sitting outside is an added perk since my dogs can join me!

As the elevator doors open directly into the foyer of the Ballard Penthouse, it’s obvious that this property is especially magical, even for the town of Telluride. In keeping with local tradition, sit down on the flokati-adorned bench to remove your shoes and step around the corner, where the massive kitchen/dining/living area reveals itself.
The expansive living area glows with natural light, as windows and French doors line the east facing wall. Unobstructed views of Ajax and Ingram Falls will leave you breathless no matter the season. A Crestron advanced home control system allows you to turn on any light in the room with a simple push of a button. Additionally, the fireplace, window blinds and music can be controlled with the Crestron system. The blonde Hickory wood floors add a bright design element and continues throughout the Penthouse.
On the south side of the massive Great Room resides the chef-ready gourmet kitchen. A large center island topped with exotic Lotus granite anchors the space and boasts bar seating for four as well as a double-sided stainless Kohler sink. The wet bar area features a second sink, ice maker, wine cooler, dishwasher and ample cocktail glass storage. Across the island, you’ll find an oversized Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, six burner Wolf gas stove and oven with pot filler, Wolf microwave drawer and more storage space than you could dream.
Coffee enthusiasts, you’ll get a thrill starting your day with the built-in Miele brewing system, which also creates hot water for tea. Two more dishwashing drawers ensure that you’ll always have clean dishes and stacked cooling drawers make it easy for little ones to help themselves to a snack. This kitchen is stocked with top of the line cooking tools, including J.A. Henckels knives, Calphalon pots and pans and countless serving bowls and trays, ideal for entertaining.
In the center of the Great Room sits a dining area for eight. A large scale, neo-traditional lantern hangs over the glass table and while impressive, the light fixture doesn’t distract from the views outside.
A double steel beam fireplace divides the two seating areas, but the warmth and light of the fire can be enjoyed on either side. A plush linen sectional sofa sits on the south side of the fireplace, perfect for cocktail conversation or morning newspaper enjoyment.
If you’d like to watch the game or put a movie on for the kids, sink into the chocolate velvet sectional sofa on the north side of the fireplace. The 55 inch 3-D Samsung television will delight and entertain every single guest. A full bathroom is located at the end of the media room, in case someone would like to have his or her own bathroom space.
You’ll find a small half-bathroom and a substantial laundry room with a full Whirpool washer and dryer in the north hallway, located directly off the elevator entrance. Continue back down the well-lit hallway where you’ll find three gorgeous bedrooms, each with their own unique and equally opulent en suite bathroom.
The first guest bedroom has two twin beds, decorated in a spunky, modern black and white scheme. Walk into the lavish en suite bathroom where you’ll discover a double vanity sink with Deca sinks, a large glass steam shower, a jetted soaking tub and a private closet with a Toto toilet. A large flat-screen Samsung television sits on a modern, high-gloss chest of drawers angled towards the beds. Large windows let in plenty of sunlight but the blackout curtains allow you to have full privacy if you choose.
In the second guest bedroom, you’ll find a Queen-sized bed with a cool, calming color palette of grays and blues. Much like the first guest bedroom, the generously sized windows let in tons of natural light but the blackout shades allow you to sleep undisturbed until you’re ready to start your day in Telluride. A full en suite bathroom includes a substantial jetted soaking tub angled perfectly towards the Samsung flat screen television, large glass steam shower, vanity with a Deca sink and a Toto toilet.
It’s safe to say that the master suite is certainly the crown jewel of this magnificent property. Step into the spa-like haven at the end of the hallway and you’ve reached the master bedroom. Dressed in all white linens, the King-sized bed takes center stage in the space. The serene decor is anything but boring, as a variety of textures fill the bedroom. From the smooth leather headboard, to the plush flokati rug underfoot and all the warm wood and stone, it would be tough not to reach a Zen-like state. If you like to watch television in bed, a large flat-screen TV will rise from a small cabinet with the push of a button.
Enjoy the grand two-sided stone and steel beam fireplace from both the bedroom and bathroom retreat. Similar to the Great Room, the gas fireplace lends a cozy element to the master bedroom no matter what time of year. Enter the opulent en suite bathroom where you will find an oversized jetted tub ideal for relaxing after an intense day of skiing or hiking. Turn the corner and discover the huge glass steam shower with a circular rain showerhead. The double vanity with unique rectangular sink basins offers ample space for toiletry and makeup storage. There is a private closet with a Toto toilet in the far corner of the room. You’ll also find a sizable walk-in closet with custom built storage shelving.
As if the master suite wasn’t decadent enough, you’ll also have access to a private balcony and your very own 4 person hot tub. Think of this space as a true retreat from the outside world and allow yourself to completely unwind as you soak in the incredible mountain views.
Access the largest private deck in Telluride through any of the three sets of French Doors in the main living area. With over 2,500 square feet of outdoor living space, the Penthouse deck boasts some of the best views possible of Ajax and Ingram Falls. Not only is the deck fully furnished with comfortable outdoor seating and a gas grill, but there’s also a large 8 person hot tub in the north corner. In the summer, there’s no better place to watch the 4th of July fireworks.

Here at Latitude 38, we want you to have the most amazing Telluride experience possible, so we’re starting a series naming our favorite spots around town. We’re kicking it off with the best places to go after a big day of skiing. All of the spots listed below are tried and true, vetted by all the locals on the Latitude 38 team.
Allison: I really like Oak, at the base of the Gondola. The owner Robbie is a local and a truly great guy. The Southern-inspired menu suits every taste, with items like gourmet mac and cheese (topped with bacon!), homemade gumbo, delicious salads and of course, barbecue. Oak has a great vibe and is relaxed enough to let the kids run around–perfect for families. Don’t miss the Mitch Morgan, a bacon/bourbon shot that’ll warm you right up!
Andy: Allred’s, which is the top of the Gondola. The views are arguably the best in town, the atmosphere is cozy and every single thing on the menu is insane. Sit in the bar area and order a Sazerac, some truffle fries and you might never want to leave!
Levi:: Tomboy Tavern is awesome. I have kids so they can get a hot cocoa while I get a beer. They always have a great selection of craft beers, as I’m also a snob about what I drink. The interior décor is cool, so my wife can hang. And, they serve the best sandwich on the planet, the Pork Schnitzel Sandwich – stone-ground mustard slaw, apple red onion relish, pickles on a pretzel bun… YUM!
Kevin: I have to agree with Allison on this one. Oak has a good mix of locals and tourists, making for an authentic atmosphere. Lots of space, good food, and good prices. Plus you can literally ski right up to the restaurant.
Lisa: Alpino Vino is an amazing place to soak in huge mountain views and enjoy a bite to eat high above Telluride. At almost 12,000 feet atop See Forever run, you can sit by the roaring fire, order an Antipasto plate and a glass of wine from their exceptional wine list (or a bottle if you want to get really comfortable!) The rustic, alpine atmosphere combined with the stellar menu and breathtaking views is a uniquely Telluride experience that you won’t soon forget!
Meaghan: Gorrono Ranch is hard to beat! Located mid-mountain on the Misty Maiden run, there’s always something going on at Gorrono’s. Grab a beer, a bowl of chili and kick back in one of the Adirondack chairs on the sunny “beach.” From corn hole, to live music to the fire pit on the deck, Gorrono’s is by far my favorite place to relax during a ski break.
Emily: The Grapefruit martinis at There Bar are to die for! After a big day on the hill, I like to stop in There for a bite to eat and one these potent but yummy martinis. While you sip on a cocktail, be sure to ask for the complimentary popcorn. They bring you a bowl of piping hot popcorn studded with big chunks of garlic–SO GOOD!
Lucas: The Cosmo is fabulous! If I’m feeling a little fancy, this is where I like to go. Hop off the Gondola in Telluride and you’re literally steps away from the front door. They have a killer happy hour with half off sushi–order the Spider Roll– and $5 Cosmos and $6 glasses of wine. I like to sit in the bar area and people watch.
Madison: Brown Dog Pizza is one of my favorite après spots, as it’s right on my walk home from the Gondola. They have some delish local beers on tap and if you’re feeling indulgent, a menu of hot drinks (think spiked hot chocolate!) I’ve never, ever had a bad meal here–don’t miss the 3-1-3 pizza! The prices are right and my husband loves all the big TVs, especially during football season. Brown Dog is super casual and always a good time.
